We are always very nice if schools want to visit the mill for a tour. Over the years we have been visited by many schools. That was its primary schools, but also schools of secondary education. The tours of these schools are quite different.
Schools get to hear and see what is available on the mill site. In connection with safety, it is necessary that there is accompanied by 5 pupils 1 (st) is present. A visit to the mill takes about 1 1/2 hours.
A class or group is, if necessary, split into two groups of approximately 12 or 14 students. The groups go into the mill and see the blades, the millstones and the sack hoist. The groups we try to grind flour on hand stone, as quite previously occurred. Our experience is that children and their carers find it very nice.
For primary schools, a visit to the mill from Group 2 suitable. For starters groups and one group the steps in the mill can be a drawback.
In secondary education, the tour is more on the physical and technical area. As levers (forces), gearing and architectural aspects.
Both volunteer millers are teachers in secondary education for the subjects physics and engineering
It is recommended the visit to the mill to be a part of a project or theme of mills or related subject. The millers have experience with such projects in secondary education (VMBO LWOO substructure) and can advise you.
For primary schools we have made two "leskisten".

Grind models
- Various types of grain. (How it looks before and after grinding).
- Bags of grain and flour, especially to "feel"
- Several DVDs on various mills
- History Lessons on the mill
- Coloring and crafts assignments for groups 2 and 3
- Simple math assignments and language lessons for groups 3, 4 and 5
- Engineering group lessons 6, 7 and 8
- Recipes for baking biscuits or pancakes
- Lessons on hygiene
- Cut Plates
There have recently been two leskisten, ask if there is still hesitate to hire one.
